We use the Bobcat S185 from Ingersol-Rand. It is a compact skid-steer loader with a countless amount of uses. We use a hydraulic trencher to dig trenches. We can trench up to 3 feet deep for either gas, water, conduit, or drain lines.

Before each trenching operation, we must notify Underground Service Alert to schedule all utility companies that service the specific location to come out and mark their locations. This free service ensures that all parties involved know what and where underground utilities will be effected. And make the environment we work in safer.

Here are photos of what can happen when you do not call for the utilities to come out and locate them for you. Evidently this is the situation of someone not calling in the request to locate, then, unbeknownst to them, he started to dig postholes for fencing. Unfortunately they hit an undergound high pressure gas line.
